This is a up to date re-imagining of the Christmas Nativity as a family of migrants or refugees sitting in a shop doorway relying on the generosity of passers-by. So we are asked to project our ideas of Christmas onto them and equally projecting what is in front of our eyes, onto a familiar story. In this way the painting challenges our beliefs and values at an emotional time of the year.
