A Life Unlived

My fear today is seeing

How small I live my life.

Saved in a box, I almost

Lived the life given to me.

Late in life I smash this box.

And almost too late, I find

Open roads leading me on.

Too long I lived within the

Tired fears of others failing

to see they were never mine.

So, I nearly missed this life,

Simply living a quiet borrowed

Life never meant to be mine.

Now, it is all slowly changed

And I am not who I was.

Outside of the box my life is

My own, my own mistakes,

My own fears, and I get to

Keep for myself hard won gains -

A life unlived by others.
